2024-W43
I have really enjoyed the game jams that we've done this year. One thing that I've noticed in all three is that we start to get a lot more ideas near the end of the jam. These, of course, never make it into the game for the jam, but it's clear that this process of creating something in such a short timeline yields creative development. That is my proposal for me and Auren (and possibly Mason).
I want to create an "internal" game jam of sorts, where we would be the only participants. We'd work exclusively in Godot and the theme would be randomly picked from a list. My main goal with doing this is to have everyone participate in the jam as individuals. That way we cast a wider net and can come back together at the end of the jam to see what we all came up with. We'd use these submissions to find what went well and what areas we really like, combining features and designs to create the basis for what we would continue to work on.
I was heavily inspired by Jonas Tyroller and all of his insights in this video:
I am going to continue working on some themes and a timeframe for our internal game jam. I should have something to send out to the "team" next week.
Until then!
